My 1st Virtual Art Gallery … is Live

The Story Behind

my new project

Virtual Art Gallery

It was a good idea. I knew that.
The concept began way back in 2009, just after I moved to a wonderful patch of Australian bush near the Town of 1770 in Central Queensland. (Australia)

It combined my two new passions: – local history and art. With a little bit of my old passion of Tech Toys.

JUST ABOUT UNBELIEVABLE

I’m an emerging artist and proud of it.

Only because of my journey. Not because I create great art! Oh No. Because I ‘LOVE’ creating. Works on paper, digital collages. oil pastel murals, acrylic works an art in parks and on cars.

I’m adventurous and proud of it.

I understand that artists want to protect their territory. Artist. Programmer. Musician. We all do it. But to the point of excluding hose with outside views. That confuses me.

Emerging Artists need to be strong enough to bat away those comments:

did you really paint that?” It becomes more difficult if you paint outside the ‘norm’ of wherever you are.”

1770 ADVENTURE’S OF THE CREATIVE KIND

– ART  GALLERY

“Emerging Artist step-up and step through every time they make a mark. Those without certificates are courageous and dangerous. They’ll go through boundaries – they don’t know they exist!! “

I have few rules for life. Number 2 is: if you paint it you must show it. To anyone, anywhere … but pubic and local is a good start.

Hence, the dream of creating a virtual gallery for emerging artist. And better than that … creating a daisy chain of virtual galleries showcasing rural emerging artists. I was hooked.

It took a few years 🙂 but in 2019 I decided to give it a shot.

“There’s a fine line between brave and stupid”  – so they say.

Thinking that putting together a successful, professional virtual gallery was doable – was a bit brave.

The danger is that once the ‘thing’ is out there, it does not matter that you are a single artist, on 40 acres of bush with  a single computer – and a terribly inconsistent connection to the web.

The fear and danger

  1. I know that my internet connection was so slow
  2.  counting  the % of image speed as minutes pass; 1 minute = 1 percentage uploaded. Unbelievable.

The product has to stand alone, despite:

  • two keyboards giving up the ghost.
  1. instead of having support, COVID restrictions quadrupled the number of tasks I needed to do
  2. as a result, I needed to take more photographs, create more image information and hang 80 works instead of 30.

The truth is: regardless of the outcome, my prototp plane, my test, my concept plan -what ever you want to call it. There’s a fine line between success and wonder – so they say.

I can imagine a community of Emerging Artist, all genres, all backgrounds, all over the world. Exhibiting. Celebrating. And selling. Yes. Selling their art.

The fear and danger is that I know that my internet connection was so slow I could count the % of images uploaded in minutes. I minute, 1 percentage. Unbelievable. And, that I had for very valid reasons, back then, for not renewing my subscription to my favourite audio software.
